LEGACY BUCKET LIST FOR FALL
As you enter the fall season it is easy to get busy. Not only are the holidays fast approaching but so is year end. As a legacy advocate, I help clients when they are in the season of legacy planning. I created this legacy bucket list for fall to help you stay on track with your legacy goals, so you still have plenty of time for drinking pumpkin spice lattes; going to football games; and of course, visiting local pumpkin patches and apple orchards.
I have run a successful law center for over two decades helping clients with estate planning, probate, and trust administration. I help clients put their legal affairs in order by counseling them through difficult decisions and drafting their legal documents to be signed before they become incapacitated or die. They are also relieved because my legal services help avoid lengthy and costly court processes here in California.
The season of legacy planning is marked with the recognition of how short life is no matter how long you live. By understanding and acting on the sense of urgency, you take action to provide for your loved ones. This is why bucket lists are helpful because they motivate people to accomplish certain things within a specific timeline.
A bucket list is an itemized list of goals people want to accomplish before they die, or “kick the bucket.” If just thinking about a bucket list makes you feel overwhelmed with all the things left to do, just use this fall bucket list to help you make your legacy a priority.
LEGACY BUCKET LIST FOR FALL
· Before Halloween, do something that scares you. I recommend calling your estate planning attorney, your financial advisor, and/or your tax professional to discuss your estate plan to ensure your legal affairs are in order. Putting your financial and legal affairs in order brings peace of mind.
· Before Thanksgiving, do something to express your gratitude. I recommend writing a legacy love letter to express your love and gratitude to the people in your life. Writing legacy love letters bring peace of heart.
· Before Giving Tuesday, do something to give back to your community. I recommend making charitable donations on Giving Tuesday and/or charitable gifts as holiday gifts in honor of loved ones.
Estate Planning
The documents required for a comprehensive estate plan include the Trust; a Last Will & Testament – Pourover Will; a Healthcare Directive, and a Power of Attorney. If you have never considered putting your estate plan in writing, I recommend that you consider adding this item to your legacy bucket list. You can make an appointment to discuss your options.
Legacy Love Letters
This is a personal note from you to a loved one. This is a separate item from your estate planning legal documents. A legacy love letter is a letter of love, faith, hope, and gratitude. These heartfelt goodbyes are often found after the passing of a loved one.
